FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the reward split work?

Gateway splits SPS, cards and packs earned from gameplay. Borrowers agree to a % split which indicates what % of your earnings will be split between the borrower and the lender. Merits, potions, and any other soul bound non-transferable game items are not included in reward splits. If you are a borrower, then 10% of the SPS you earn from your rental goes to Gateway as a transaction fee.

What if I get a really valuable reward and it can't be split evenly?

If it's impossible to split rewards according to the % specified in the listing, Gateway implements a balance accrual system. For example, if the % split is 50-50, and the borrower earned $1 worth of rewards. Of that $1 in rewards, the borrower earned a card worth $0.90. Since the card can't be split, it'll go to the lender. The lender has been overcompensated by $0.40. Over the coming days the system will "pay off" the balance owed to the borrower by giving the borrower more of the rewards until their $0.40 balance is rectified.

Why can't I borrow a deck?

Troubleshoot with these suggestions:

I'm worried the system will mistake my own cards, packs or cryptocurrencies as a part of the reward split. How does Gateway differentiate my assets from in-game rewards?

Gateway pulls information directly from the Splinterlands database, so we can identify what gameplay rewards were for any given day. Gateway ONLY applies the reward split to rewards given via gameplay.

How does Gateway split SPS if it gets staked immediately after it's earned?

Splinterlands built a mechanism called rewards delegation for us, which allows Gateway to access and distribute staked SPS between different accounts at the time it is claimed.

If you can split staked SPS, doesn't that mean you have access to my staked SPS as well?

Gateway cannot access staked SPS once it has been claimed. Gateway only applies the split to SPS that is pending a claim, and once claimed, has no more access to it.

Before borrowing a deck on Gateway, you must claim all SPS waiting to be claimed, or Gateway will apply the % split to any SPS pending a claim.

I have a question about getting started with Web3 games.

When can I use the rewards that I've earned?

Gateway automatically claims chests and SPS for you so you don't have to worry. You get an email everyday detailing what cards and packs you've earned vs what the lender has earned. We ask that you as a borrower don't touch any rewards that you've earned for 24 hours to make sure you don't accidentally transfer/combine or otherwise impede the ability of the system to transfer the corresponding rewards to the lender.

Can I end my rental early?

Lender: As a lender you can end a rental at anytime. The system runs reward collection automation once every 24 hours, so if you decide to end a rental early, it will automatically undelegate the cards and terminate the rental at the next 24 hour interval.

Borrower: As a borrower, you CANNOT end a rental early. Please pay attention to the cards that are in the listing as we cannot allow borrowers to end rentals early due to their ability to collect a lot of season chests and then end the rental to illicitly retain all the season rewards for themselves.
